  • Lake Bogoria National Reserve was opened in 1970 to boost tourism in the local area. The reserve is located in a semi-arid area and river wesenges which feds the Lake comes from slopes of Aberdare ranges.
  • The Lake Bogoria is famous known due to its hot geysers and hot springs which forms a Natural Spa. The lake is alkaline, feeding blue-green algae which in turn feed flamingoes. At times the number of flamingoes feeding in the lake may be as high as two million. In total, 135 species of bird have been recorded here including little grebe, pratincole, swift, little bee-eater, cape wigeon, yellow-billed stork, African spoonbill, augur buzzard, gabar goshawk, water dikkop, great tit, starling, hornbill and crombec.
